I saw your post why don't you like Malia?
Oh, see, it isn’t about not liking Malia. It’s about not trusting Malia.
What I’m saying is…
On the surface, Malia is this little lost puppy that the writer’s are being very sneaky with, making the viewers smile and giggle and like her….but I doubt that’s going to last.
As many meta-writers have pointed out, the relationship between Stiles and Malia is being thrown in our faces like "It’s a cute romance love it, live it, want it" but this is constantly being undermined by the abusive dynamic and her extremely sketchy background.
In tonight’s episode, we got a lot of Malia following Lydia around like a lost little puppy. Cute, right? On the surface, yes. But what this episode really did was put Malia in a convenient position to manipulate. First, she hovers when Lydia is trying to do her banshee drawing/writing. This, on the surface, says " Oh she was a coyote for years, she doesn’t understand personal boundaries" but if you look a little deeper, it’s manipulative. She crowds Lydia, knowing it’s making her uncomfortable, knowing it’s preventing her from doing what she needs to do.
After that Malia suggests Lydia gets help from another banshee. Malia seems all too in control of this situation and my mind automatically goes to RED ALERT. So enter Meredith who gives the number 2436. Then Malia suddenly grasps that perhaps it’s like algebra. My theory here is that Malia got to know Meredith a bit better than we’ve been shown while she was in Eichen House and that this will surface in a later episode.
To put it simply, I feel like Malia always seems to have an inordinate amount of information and knowledge that makes her suspect. She magically knew to look in the wall in the basement of Eichen House to find the nogitsune’s body. Hell, she magically knew how to GET IN to the basement of Eichen House and we were never shown this. She magically uses the same color-coding system as Stiles. She conveniently interrupts Lydia’s banshee powers and conveniently now can figure out things Lydia, the mastermind, can’t.
Either this show’s writing has all of the sudden become the actual worst thing ever, or we are subtly being shown not to take things at face value with this character.
I’m hoping for the latter. I’m thinking she knows a whole hell of a lot more then she lets on. I bet she knows damn well about all of this benefactor bullshit.
